Solid Wood Flooring
Solid wood flooring is a type of flooring made of solid wood throughout its thickness. It is usually made of a hardwood species, such as oak, maple or walnut. It can be installed by being suspended, glued down or floating.
It comes in long planks, usually mulled with tongues and grooves on opposite sides so that the boards interlock when installed. Solid wood flooring is highly durable and can be sanded down and refinished several times over its life.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring is a real wood flooring manufactured using three to nine layers of different wood veneers, bonded together. It comes with different designs and styles purposefully designed and built, unlike the natural wood floor that was grown from a tree. It can be installed by being glued down or floating.
Top quality engineered floors look no different than solid wood once fitted and are much more stable. The top layer is made of solid hardwood bonded with modern adhesives to a plywood base in pressure presses.
Installation methods
